Perhaps you have wondered how many steps are actually involved in a piece of jewelry.
Everything starts long before you wear your piece for the first time. Our jewelry contains a lot of thoughts, inspirations, craftsmanship, trial-and-error processes, and energy. This takes time and resources - we want the piece you hold in your hands at the end to be adorned with loving details and truly fit you.
Why some processes take a lot of time with us
To avoid overproduction, we manufacture in small batches. Our beaded jewelry is knotted on-site in our studio in Leipzig. Our team takes care of your piece of jewelry from the first idea to packaging and shipping.
For many years, we have been working with a family business in southern Germany for our gold and silver jewelry, which also produces each piece by hand. If there are any waiting times during the process, we always try to keep you updated on when your favorite piece will be available again. :)
But let us now explain what steps are needed before you receive a piece of jewelry.
1. The beginning: Design with intention
Each piece of jewelry is designed from scratch by us. For this, we gather inspiration over several months, talk to people, and think about what intention should be embedded in the piece of jewelry.
We experiment with shapes, sketch, digitize, sometimes discard everything, and adjust details. In the end, it’s not just about the piece looking beautiful; it should feel right, embody the essence of Spirit of Eden, and truly accompany you in your daily life, regardless of its form, whether simple or a bit more extravagant.
2. From design to the first piece
Before a piece of jewelry becomes part of our collection, a prototype is created. In this phase, we test materials, proportions, and small but crucial details:
- How does the piece lie on the skin?
- What proportions should it have?
- How should the surface feel?
- How does it close?
- How does it feel in everyday life?
Sometimes this means that we have to revise details multiple times, adjust feedback from our producers, or rethink materials. Until everything is coherent.
3. The mold: Handcrafted from the beginning
For our pieces made from recycled gold and silver, a wax mold is first created. This step is also done by hand until the wax mold is ready for casting. Here, the foundation is laid for everything that follows. It is a precise process – and one of the most important. From this, our first cast prototype in silver is created. If we are happy with it, it goes into final production.
4. The production: Piece by piece
Each piece of jewelry is then handcrafted. No mass production, no assembly line. Instead, conscious, small quantities. This also means: Some pieces are not always immediately available and are made to order. We only produce what is truly needed and give each piece the time it deserves.
5. Before your package sets off
Before your jewelry arrives, we take a moment. We look at each piece closely again. We check details, feel into it, to see if everything is as it should be.
Then your jewelry will be carefully packaged – in your bag, which will also protect it later and can accompany you everywhere. We also include a ritual card with each piece of jewelry, which helps you connect with your piece and feel how your jewelry can support you.
And with that, your package is ready and is on its way to you from Leipzig!
